A satellite is any object which orbits another object. All bodies that are part of the solar system, for example the Earth and Jupiter, are satellites . Most of these bodies orbit the sun, but others orbit planets. For example, the moon orbits the Earth. When we use the term ‘satellite’ , we usually mean an artificial satellite. This is a man-made object that orbits the Earth, or the other body. However , scientist may also use the term for natural satellites, or moons.
